The Period Fencer's Guild was established in 1997 as an offshoot of The Company Ecorcheur, a successful "Wars of the Roses" re-enactment society.

A number of the members of the society had qualified as stage-fighters with the British Academy Of Dramatic Combat, and as a result were receiving requests for displays which fell outside of a strictly medieval context.

The Guild was established to provide a regular and formalised forum for Members to discuss, practice and explore European Martial Arts, and to develop their skills in presenting their shows in an exciting fashion. The Guild offers combatants and characters for educational displays, the film & television industry and tourist locations throughout the UK... and beyond.

We pride ourselves on being both educational and entertaining. We strive for accuracy in our combat style and costume, and believe that we acheive our goals whichever period we represent. From humble re-enactment beginnings, the PFG have grown to become a professional, motivated and approachable organisation. We are well used to working with major tourist sites, professional photographers, and film & television crews and have provided extras for combat scenes, light stunt work and "character" shots.

From single "meet & greet" characters to tavern brawls with a dozen assailants, the Period Fencer's Guild can supply something suitable for your corporate event or historical display. We currently cover some 700 years of history, but can research and develop customised shows for specific time periods if required.

Some of our "regular characters" include Norman Warriors, Medieval Knights and Archers, Tudor Mercenaries, The Three Musketeers, Golden-age Pirates, Marlburian Infantry, Napoleonic Duellists and Georgian Fencers. We can even provide some non-military displays - from a Medieval Surgeon to Victorian street peddlers. Whatever period your event or production is based around, the PFG can usually provide an "off the shelf" solution.

Our combined wealth of knowledge, equipment and enthusiasm for history guarantees a successful and memorable event.

The Period Fencer's Guild are suitably insured semi-professional actors and re-enactors. We maintain high standards of safety and always respect our clients property. Many of our members are sport fencers, martial artists and/or certified stage combatants with over ten years of experience in this area.
